Aartist | Make Yo Ear Hot

AARTIST

Aartist always nurtured a dream of becoming a singer and achieving success in the music industry. However, this was a dream she initially kept hidden from most people. Despite her aspirations, her father often encouraged her to pursue a career in the medical field. Because of this, she felt  her parents didn’t fully support her dreams. When she expressed her desires to pursue music, she received lukewarm responses and the topic was quickly changed. Overtime, this led to a growing sense of insecurity. She felt like her voice didn’t matter. It discouraged her in many ways, and she felt her parents didn’t believe anything would come from her talents. This lead to Aartist becoming withdrawn overtime. She wondered if she’d ever be the super star she dreamt of as a young girl.

Both Aartist’s parents graduated from the University of NC in Chapel Hill. Her mother was very ambitious and earned a degree in journalism. Her dad’s father was a college professor at Shaw University in NC. She comes from a rich history of accomplished educators and professionals. This sometimes made her question her music aspirations. She started to feel like maybe her dreams were silly.” Still, Aartist never gave up! She moved to Atlanta, GA and caught the attention of Seth Firkins. He was a well-known audio engineer who worked with heavy hitters in the music industry like Future, Young Thug, and MikeWillMadeIt.

She had high hopes of Seth taking her under his wing and learning the music business. However, that desire quickly came to an end. Shortly after reaching his peak as an audio engineer, he passed away in 2017. Aartist looked at Seth like a mentor, and says he was one of the nicest people to ever know.

Aartist isn’t afraid to dream big and pursue her dreams. She hopes to inspire billions of people one day. “God has a purpose for me”, she says. “I’m determined to fulfill that purpose!”
