Kevin Smith aka OG Kama Clips was born on January 12, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois. His early music
influences were DJ Quik, Snoop Dogg, The D.O.C., 8Ball, & MJG, and UGK- just to name a few.
But when he saw the group ‘Kriss Kross’ on TV, he developed a burning desire to write and create music.
himself. Between the ages of 8-13, OG Kama was the only one of friends to write and recite music,
so often times they would challenge him to rap over beats they heard on the radio. This increased his
passion to write more songs so that he was always prepared for a request or challenge. At the age of 14
he relocated to Mississippi, where he discovered a totally different type of hip hop culture. It was like a
breath of fresh air!! He lived with a family member that held an abundance of TDK tapes of underground
artists-artists who gained notoriety through the years. This broadened his horizon as an artist and love for
music grew even more! Friends who he met while down south had a makeshift recording studio, where
they all rapped, and OG Kama was able to hone his skills. A new scenery and different
slang/accent he was hearing, pretty much made him the artist he is today. OG Kama Clips now serves as
an A&R and artist for MakeYoEarHot Ent, and has been with the company since they began.
